4 Ways to Create an Invoice

We spend a lot of time visiting small businesses. It helps us understand a lot – we watch what they do, we watch for what makes people cringe, smile and more.  A lot of the decisions we made in building this product were based on these observations.  One thing we noticed was that people start from many different “places” when they go to create an invoice.  We didn’t want to constrain that behavior, so Billing Manager offers users many ways to create a new invoice…

(1) The first time someone logs in, we basically put it right in your face…it’s a big green button because…

…there’s a permanent big green button that lives in the application navigation on the left:

(2) We saw many people create an invoice by opening an old invoice (usually for the same customer) and just changing a few things.  So, we let you do this too.  You can go to any invoice and click “Make a Copy”.  We’ll create a new invoice, with today’s date, for the same person, for the same stuff – change whatever you want.

(3) Not stopping there, we also let you create a new invoice from your address book.  Customer on the phone?  Looking them up in your address book?  Why not invoice right from there?

(4) Lastly, if you happen to be looking at your list of the “stuff” that you invoice for – we call it Products and Services – you can directly create an invoice from there too.
